Real Love

Real Love.

Those two words mean a lot of different things to different people. If you're looking for a romantic relationship, it's time to figure out what those words mean to you.

Do you know what you're looking for? I always suggest people looking for love take some time and make a list of what they're looking for. Make it as long and exhaustive a list as possible. Put everything on it. From the big and most important items, to the little things.

Is political affiliation important? What about the kind of music they listen to? Is their job important to you? How about hair and eye color? 

Once you've made your list, let it sit for a day or so. Go back to it and add anything you've forgotten. Then, when you're certain it's complete, start making cuts.

Everything that's not a deal breaker should go. Does it really matter if their eyes are green instead of brown? Does the kind of job they have make a difference? What if they don't like tacos? Every single thing that isn't really that important should go.

And what you have left just might be the sketch of what you're looking for.

If you're already in a relationship and you're wondering if it's "Real Love", here's a simple test. Ask yourself if you're willing to share your dreams with them. Will they support you with what you tell them? Or will they make fun of you? Or put you down? Or dismiss your dreams entirely? If they don't understand, or "get" what your dreams are about, will they still support you?

The answers to many of those may surprise you. And they'll tell you what you need to know.
